Pastor's Bio

Becky Henson was born and raised in Texas living much of her life in West Texas where seldom a tree can be found. She made her way to East Texas in 1987 and has grown to love this area, especially the trees. Becky is the parent of three adult daughters: Samantha, Molly and Susie. She is also grandmother to Jeremiah.
In 1980, Becky felt a call from God to serve in some form of ministry in the church. She attended McMurry University, a United Methodist school in Abilene, where she received her degree in Christian Education with Sacred Music. She has served in the area of Christian Education as diaconal minister at St. Paul UMC in Abilene, First UMC in Carlsbad, New Mexico, and First UMC in Lufkin, Texas.
While serving in Lufkin, Becky felt God calling her to a new ministry. Becky left Lufkin and began serving as Associate Pastor at First UMC in Wichita Falls, Texas. While there she attended seminary at Brite Divinity School at TCU in Fort Worth. In 2002, she completed her MDiv at Brite and in 2003 was appointed as Associate Pastor at Greggton UMC in Longview, where she has served for 4 years. Becky was ordained elder in May, 2006.
Becky has a great love for music. She enjoys playing the piano and occasionally will pick up the guitar. She also enjoys singing. Music can enliven the heart and soothe the soul.
